Where is the Louisburg delivery?
The Louisburg delivery is at the
home/farm of Scott and Kerri Forney. Maps
for both pick-up locations are on the website. You can click on “Get Directions” for the location closest to you, enter
your address and the directions will be available for you to email to yourself
or print from the GoogleMaps website.
To
help you decide which location is closer, Scott Forney gave me the following
information in regards to their location.
Approximate
travel times from various locations:
A. Wake Forest: 20
minutes
B. Outer Loop/Triangle
Town Center: 30 minutes
C. Beltline: 45
minutes
When will the grain be delivered?
The grain will arrive anywhere from
1 to 6 weeks from the day the order is sent into Wheat Montana. Our order is a bulk order that must be a
minimum of 5000#. Wheat Montana delivers these orders on semi trucks. I was
told on my first order, which was over 10,000 #, that it was only 1/4 of the
truck's capacity. Wheat Montana will not send out a truck until it is full.
When they know the truck will be filled, they call me telling me the date the
truck will depart the warehouse and the date they EXPECT it to arrive for our
delivery. Keep in mind that we are only one of several deliveries this driver
will make and in the winter months, driving can be delayed due to weather. I
keep in contact with them during that time and SHOULD get 24 hours notice to
the specific time they will arrive.
Occasionally, we are not contacted
appropriately and we get very little notice from the driver. This is very frustrating to all of us and I
make every attempt to put the driver off as long as possible. They are instructed ahead of time that no
deliveries will take place on a Sunday. Other than that, I cannot tell you when they will arrive specifically
until I am notified by the driver.
When I hear ANYTHING from Wheat
Montana, the trucking company, or the driver, I will post it in two
places. I will send out an email on the
email loop AND I will send out an email to everyone who has ordered
grain FROM the website. It is very
important that you check your email DAILY until we get a TENTATIVE date. From that point on, it would be ideal if you
checked it several times a day. All I
can do is send you the updates. If you
do not check your email, then you will not know about the delivery. Checking for updates is YOUR
responsibility!
I’m
going to be out of town for the delivery. Can the Forney’s just hang onto my order for me?
They probably would, BUT, you are
doing so at your own risk. They live on
a farm and do not have an area to store your grain to keep it free from pests,
especially if your grain is in bags. So
please be prepared in case the grain comes in when you are out of town.
Three things:
1. Contact me, not the Forneys, with
the dates you will be out of town.
2. Line up someone to pick up your grain in your absence - either another
co-op member or a friend is fine.
3. Send ME the contact information for said person, so I know to contact
them if the grain comes in while you are away. I will pass this information to the Forneys near delivery time, if it is
needed.
Another option is to send out a
message on the email loop and find out if there is someone near you that you
may not be aware of, who can pick up your grain and hold it till you
return. Not to sound snotty, but the
least I need to do with it, the better.
Can I
volunteer to help?
Yes, unloading help is appreciated. The process of unloading takes about 20-40 minutes, depending upon the number of people helping. The truck backs up right to the building that serves as the pick-up place so little walking is involved. The ability to carry (not lift) 25-50# items the length of the tractor trailer is the only necessity as the bags are lifted off the pallets by capable men.
I
know the truck is coming to Louisburg today. When do I come get my grain?
Pick-up time is e-mailed and/or phoned to customers once the truck’s location is verified.
Where
do I park when I arrive?
You do not need to park in order to pick up your
items. It is a drive-thru setup as you drive around one side of the
building, are met by a volunteer to get your name, your order is pulled and
loaded, and away you go on the other side of the building. If there’s no
line, you can be in-and-out in a matter of minutes (depending upon the size of
your order).
My grain did not arrive with the order. What do I do?
If the order did not have an error and they indeed neglected to send certain
items, Wheat Montana will deliver it to your home whenever I give them your
address. Occasionally they run out and in that case, you would get a refund.
Unfortunately, it may be an error on my part. If that is the case, I'll refund
you the money.
I think there is something wrong with my grain. It doesn’t look right. Ewww! I see bugs! What should I do?
First of all, don't throw it out.
Many times I can get a refund or replacement from Wheat Montana if there is
indeed something wrong with the grain. But Wheat Montana expects me to look
into the matter and check the grain personally before I request that.
It would be very helpful if you
could take a digital picture and email it to me as well. Also, note that LOT
NUMBER and then call me and we will see what we can work out.
I’ve already run out of grain. Where can I get more before the next order?
