Ordering
How often do you place an order?
We order every three months.... January, April, July and October. The majority of the month is given to compiling the order and it is sent
to Wheat Montana at the end of the month.
Will I have to create an account
each time I place an order?
No. Once you register, your account
is retained in the database as well as your order history. When you place your
next order, you only need to login.
If I place items in my shopping
cart, will they be lost if I leave the site?
No, items are retained in your shopping cart till you remove them or place your order.
Why are there different price lists?
We have a separate list for each drop site. The item numbers are specific to each of them. Items going to Asheville have item numbers beginning with the letter A, Louisburg items begin with the letter L and so on. That enables me to separate the entire order into separate orders for Wheat Montana. So double check your order to make sure all your item numbers begin with the letter of the drop site you plan to use.
Why is there an additional charge
for Paypal users?
Yes there is. I have attempted to get Paypal to waive it, but they are strict about this policy. The fee is 2.9% + $0.30 added to your total. We have a PP fee calculator that is linked at the top of each page. Click Calculate Paypal Fees.
Do you still have a service fee?
Yes, I still have a service fee.
This fee is to cover my costs during the ordering month…long distance phone
calls, cell phone bills, paper supplies and lastly, my time. I spend many hours
compiling this order and my husband feels it appropriate for me to at least be
able to cover our own grain bill and other costs. We are also charged $50 for each pallet Wheat Montana sends out to us. I charge
$0.02 cents for every pound of product ordered. This amount has been combined with the shipping fee to create a shipping/handling fee of $0.20 per pound.
Why is the shipping so high?
The shipping companies are charging
Wheat Montana more, largely due to rising fuel prices, and they pass those
charges on to us. It is actually much better still, than paying retail prices
directly to Wheat Montana and shipping for individual orders. In those cases,
the shipping is often higher than the price of the product.
Why has the price of the grain gone
up so much?
There is a global wheat shortage so
we are feeling the effects of supply and demand. The higher cost of fuel is
also causing wheat prices to rise, like it is with just about everything else
in your grocery store.
How much grain should I order? What
kind?
If you are just getting started, I
would suggest you order Prairie Gold for making yeast bread and Soft White
Wheat for making pastry goods like muffins, pancakes, etc. Go to our Intro To
Wheat Montana Grains (link in header of main page) to see the differences in
these grains and others Wheat Montana carries.
50 lbs of grain will give you 300
cups of flour. A family of 6 averages 100 lbs of grain every six months. The
shelf life of the whole grain is several years if stored properly, so it is
better to order a bit too much than not enough. After your first couple orders,
you will see your own family’s pattern develop.
Payments
When do you need my payment?
The date will be given at the beginning of each ordering session. If payment is not made by the deadline given, your order will not
be included. I must have the money in the bank so that I can pay Wheat Montana
when I place the order.
Can I write a check? Who do a make
it out to?
Unfortunately, I cannot accept personal checks. I do not have the time to wait for checks to clear on people that I do not know, therefore my husband prefers we only accept cash, cashier’s checks from a bank, or money orders (post office, Walmart, other stores as well.) All acceptable checks should be made out to Beth Branch and mailed to me at my home address. That address will show up on your order confirmation email.
